Dry Erase Menu Board
Hello everyone!!! 💜
I am going to be explaining a super versatile DIY project today. My husband and I have been meal planning, so I wanted to use my picture frame dry erase board as a menu board! This project is customizable because you can choose any pattern of paper you like for the background and use the finished product for whatever you like! It can work as a place to write your shopping lists, family reminders, bible verses of the week, chore lists, etc. The possibilities are endless! But for my house, a meal planning menu board is exactly what we needed and I'll show just how easy it was to make.
👇😀👇
So let's get crafty already!
MATERIALS:
-Large picture frame
-One large piece of grey paper
-One large piece of pink paper
-One square patterned paper
-One sheet of sticker letters
-Pink Sharpie
-Scissors
-Tape
(disregard the flower stickers, I ended up not using them because they made the board look too cluttered)
STEP ONE:
Take picture frame apart and flip over the background insert. This will be the background you will be taping the paper onto.
STEP TWO:
Measure the length and width of your white picture frame background, leaving a small section at the top for the title. Take your large grey and pink pieces of paper and cut 4 rectangles of each color that will fit with your length and width measurements. For example, if the length of my white background was 8 and my width was 12, I would cut 4, 4x3 rectangles out of the pink paper and 4, 4x3 rectangles out of the grey paper. Tape your rectangles onto your background, alternating colors. Feel free to use whatever color paper you like for the rectangles and arrange them to your preference! 😄 It should look something like this:
STEP THREE:
Find your favorite color of Sharpie and write the days of the week at the top of the first seven colored rectangles and write "notes" on the last rectangle.
STEP FOUR:
To add a little pattern interest to the board, I taped two squares of floral paper on either side of the title space at the top. There is not a specific size these have to be, just leave enough room in the middle for the word "Menu". Again, use whatever pattern you like. Get creative with it! 😘
STEP FIVE:
Because my handwriting is not the neatest, I wanted to help this board look more polished. If you have amazing handwriting, feel free to calligraphy the heck out of this thing! As I am not so blessed in the handwriting arts, I used letter stickers for the word "Menu" to balance out my free spirited penmanship! 😜 The placement should resemble this:
STEP SIX:
Place the finished background back into your picture frame!
STEP SEVEN:
Hang your organizational masterpiece somewhere in your home that will be easy to write on. For me, I chose to hang it on the inside of my pantry door with Command strips. I love this spot for my Menu because it does not take up space and it doesn't have to match my kitchen decor! WIN!
STEP EIGHT:
Use a dry erase marker to write in your meals of the week and any extra thoughts in the notes section. This week, I chose to write desserts and drinks in the extra space. I love the functionality of this menu board because I can adjust the meals at any time if I change my mind and erase it all to start new the next week! And HOW CUTE IS IT??!!??!! That's what really matters, right? 😆😍
This is such an easy way to organize your thoughts and bring some handmade character to your kitchen! 💜
Let me know what you think of this craft in the comments! I'd also LOVE to see pictures of any finished products of people who decided to make a version of this for their own home!
Until next time, friends! 😊
